Storyboards

Storyboarding is a great way to plan out a video production in a visual way. 

A storyboard consists of a series of annotated drawings, one for each shot in your video. Think of it rather like a graphic novel (comic) of your video, but with notes of how you'll film it.

A storyboard really helps you get a handle on what you need to shoot before you go 'on location' to film. It'll tell you:

  • How many clips you need to film
  • What / who needs to be in each clip
  • How to film each clip (camera shot and movement)
Almost as important, it'll tell you when you've finished and can go home!

If you're anxious about the idea of going out and filming for your coursework, I guarantee that making a storyboard will help.
